The Bowling Green State University community is charged with developing, sustaining, and extending living, learning, and working environments that are fair, inclusive and welcoming for all members of the BGSU family. It is with this initiative in mind that this informational website was designed in order to serve those individuals who are new to the area and who have the need for diverse resources that are important to theiracclimation to their new home.

This website serves as a hub, but not an exhaustive list, for diversity and inclusion resources for students, faculty, staff, and community members. The development of this content speaks directly to Goal 5 of the BGSU Strategic Plan: Build a campus and community that fosters diversity and inclusion. Please note that being featured on the website does not guarantee an endorsement by the University or the greater community.

Suggestions for additional resources are always welcome. Please submit the form below with as much information about your suggestion as possible. Please know that all submissions will be reviewed, but may not be added to the website. The website is updated monthly, so please allow an appropriate amount of time for a response.

The LC for CBL is a professional development opportunity for educators interested in integrating communitybased learning (servicelearning) pedagogy into new/existing courses or programs. The community is open to BGSU graduate students, instructors, staff, and tenuretrack/tenured faculty. Limited space is available and new applications are accepted each year.

Exploring best practices in communitybased learning, communitybased research, and community and civic engagement topics. These events are great opportunities for BGSU faculty members to network with colleagues and learn from other faculty members and professionals about community engaged teaching and research methods.

We are happy to meet on an individual basis or as a small group to discuss integrating communitybased learning into new/existing courses or programs and/or into scholarship. Contact Paul Valdez at paulvbgsu.edu to request a consultation.

We send a weekly newsletter to 4,000+ students, faculty, and staff in which we highlight community service and civic engagement opportunities in Northwest Ohio. We encourage you to send us information about upcoming events, activities, and programs at your agency. The newsletter is sent each Thursday. Please submit your information at least one week prior to your event.

Your BG Experience goes beyond the classroom. Get out and see what you can do! The Expand Your Horizons Fair is a great event for students, staff, and faculty at BGSU to learn about the various forms of experiential learning available to them at BGSU.

Experiential Learning is not possible without the support of great community partners. The fair is a great way to connect directly with students, faculty, and staff about volunteer opportunities, internships, community partnerships and more!.

If you need help coming up with a project, we would love to help you brainstorm some ideas! Please contact Phil Ryburn of the United Way of Greater Toledo at 4192544670 or volunteerunitedwaytoledo. Projects may include, but are not limited to: painting rooms, cleaning and organization projects, construction projects, sorting and labeling projects, social interactions with clients, packing and moving, and more. Please use this form for your agency's information and volunteer requests for a Day of Service Project.

Includes participant biographies and a list of new communitybased learning courses created by participants.

Additionally, please join us the morning of September 13th, 2017 (8:30 9:30 am) for the Community Partnership Awards Breakfastto honor our 2017 Community Partnership Award recipients and to learn important information about how to connect with faculty, students, and resources at BGSU. Space is limited. The following registration will include sign up for both events.

It will be a great opportunity for your organization to recruit long and shortterm volunteers and develop communitybased learning partnerships with faculty. The fair is free with limited capacity. We only have space for 80 community partner tables.

Colleges and universities face numerous new pressures, expectations and competing demands. In this rapidly changing landscape, community engaged strategies offer an effective and powerful response. Institutionally integrated engagement reflects higher educations mission to prepare student citizens and to contribute productively to societal issues and opportunities. Barbara Holland outlined the case in her power point presentation that a strategic and intentional commitment to community engagement is a powerful response to current and emerging change challenges for higher education.
